**Easy Heidi shirt**

SHIRT - New Look Pattern 6194

En passant outre le premier aspect affreux de ce multi-patron, on peut découvrir le potentiel du haut A (si si). J'avais deja en tête de réaliser un tee-shirt, mais pour mon premier je voulais me baser sur un patron existant. La forme de celui-ci correspondait à peu près à ce que je recherchais.

Despite the atrocious look of this multi-pattern, it contains some pearls, and among them the top A. I have had in mind to sew a t-shirt for a while, but for my first time, I wanted to start off an existing pattern. The shape of this one was roughly what I imagined. 

Une fois le patron acheté et rentrée chez moi, misère je réalise qu'il se coud avec de la soie, ou un tissu plutôt fluide, et qu'il faut une fermeture éclair. Pas de problème, mon tissu est stretch, donc pas besoin de fermeture (j'ai croisé les doigts car pas encore trop sûre de moi dans le domaine de la couture, et ça a marché!) J'ai également éliminé les pinces pour encore plus de facilité.

La forme est on ne peut plus simple (seulement 4 pièces à découper dans le tissu...) et le tee-shirt est cousu en un après-midi.

Je suis très contente de mon biais et de la couture du col, mais un peu moins des manches et de l'ourlet... J'ai tiré le tissu pendant la couture, donc évidemment ça tire, ça gondole.

After the pattern was purchased and back home, I realised it asked for a silky fabric and a zipper... No worries my fabric is stretchy so I don't need a zipper (fingers crossed because I am not that confident in sewing just yet, but it worked!) I also skipped the darts for an even easier pattern.

The shape is the most simple ever (4 pieces to cut in the fabric) and the t-shirt was made in one afternoon.

I am very happy with my bias and the collar sewing, but not as much with the sleeves and bottom hem... I pulled the fabric too much while sewing and of course it is all puckered.

Prochaine fois je tente avec une autre couleur neutre et un biais léopard, oooh yeah...

 J'espère coudre le pantalon ce week-end, mais en lui donnant un petit look boyfriend :)

Next time I will try with a neutral color too and a leopard bias, ooh yeah...

**Zef skirt**

JUPE DRAPEE - Aime Comme Marie

EN- My second sewing project: another skirt. I really really like how it turned out. I made a few mistakes such as sewing the belt in the wrong way so ended up making an extra seam... At least I won't do the same construction errors again :) 

Sewing on stretchy fabric was quite challenging, and this time I ran into a nice lady at the fabric store who told me I should probably also get jersey needles. I broke one at the very end of the project as I was pulling the fabric from the sewing machine....

Marie's tutorial was just *awesome* for a beginner and if her patterns are alike I am going to splurge quite soon!

FR- Mon deuxième project de couture : encore une jupe. J'aime vraiment beaucoup le rendu final. J'ai fait quelques erreurs - du type coudre la ceinture dans le mauvais sens, donc j'ai dû faire une couture de plus au dessus... Au moins je comprends la construction maintenant et je ne ferai plus les mêmes erreurs basiques. 

Coudre du tissu quelque peu élastique était la partie la plus stimulante de ce projet, et cette fois-ci j'ai rencontré une vendeuse un peu plus sympa au magasin qui m'a dit que je devrais aussi probablement acheter des aiguilles adaptées. J'en ai cassé une à peine ma jupe terminée... Très fragiles donc (à moins que je sois un peu brute... )

Le tutoriel de Marie était juste parfait pour une débutant et si ses patrons sont du même accabit je risque de craquer très rapidement...

Addictive personality

I have spent a good deal of time again today in craft stores... And I spotted all these patterns. Of course, most of them are retro... Last time I went through pattern books, I was really disappointed, the pictures looked horrendous (ugly colours and never properly fitted, even the models are not  good looking...) so I think I may actually like those because they are drawings.

I have to increase my skills quite a bit though before even thinking of buying any of these. For now, I mainly pick tutorials on the internet or in books (I borrowed about ten at the library to learn the techniques).

I couldn't resist and bought two (hopefully) easy ones:

I want to make the shorts version, I love the neckline!

I want to make the first dress gathered at the waist... Such a nice shape and fit to chill at home...

Pouf Pouf skirt

EN- Here we go, finally started a real piece of clothing... and finished it. As a total beginner this was TOUGH. Women at the fabric store were not particularly nice and I almost cried because I was so lost, didn't know what type of fabric to buy, and didn't know the vocabulary for anything. "Interfacing", "Prefolded bias".. seemed like barbaric words to me. After this first project, I feel like I learnt a couple of things: how pleats can be made, how to sew the zipper (even if my sewing is horrendous the technique makes sense and I understand it). 

I think I will wear this skirt even if it is far from being perfect and that's what matters :) So happy I finished it!

FR- Et voilà, j'ai enfin commencé... et terminé mon tout premier vêtement. Et en tant que vraie débutante, c'était DUR. Les vendeuses à la boutique de tissus n'étaient pas particulièrement sympas et j'ai presque pleuré de rage... J'étais complètement perdue, je ne savais pas quelle sorte de tissu acheter et surtout je ne connaissais pas le vocabulaire de base (j'ai décidé d'apprendre en anglais donc pour le coup je ne connaitrai toujours pas le vocabulaire en français). Après ce premier projet, j'ai le sentiment d'avoir appris déjà quelques trucs et astuces, et techniques : comment faire des plis, coudre une fermeture éclair (même si mes coutures sont plutôt horribles, je comprends la technique). 

Je pense que je porterai cette jupe même si elle est loin d'être parfaite et c'est probablement le plus important :) Super contente d'avoir été jusqu'au bout !

After I realised what the bias was for, and after I screwed it up, I went and buy a bigger one to hide the mess.. and I think I like this one sewing. On the right: ugly zipper u_u Now I know it should go all the way up... And I should practice the sewing so it is not so tight and creasy looking...
A gauche : je suis en fait plutôt contente de mes plis, et ils étaient vraiment funs à faire. Après avoir réalisé ce à quoi un biais servait, et après avoir raté l'application, je suis allée en racheter un bien plus gros pour cacher les dégâts... et cette couture en particulier n'est pas aussi moche que les autres. A droite : horrible couture de la fermeture éclair. Maintenant je sais qu'elle devrait aller jusqu'en haut.. et m'entraîner pour ne pas que ce soit aussi serré et froissé...

New hobby: la machine à coudre

FR- J'ai sauté le pas! Me voilà avec une machine à coudre et de beaux projets. Je me suis familiarisée un peu avec la bête la semaine dernière mais je suis une très grande débutante... Tout à apprendre donc et pas vraiment de professeur. 

EN- I finally did it! Here I am with a sewing machine and a thousand projects. I started to get to know the machine last week end but I am a huge beginner... Absolutely don't know anything about sewing, so everything to learn and not really having a teacher so hopefully Youtube will have a plethora of beginners videos.

J'ai acheté un modèle qui me paraissait plutôt simple pour être en mesure de savoir à quoi tous les boutons correspondent et mon premier projet provient d'un Chouette Kit. C'est d'ailleurs ceux-ci qui m'ont finalement convaincue de me mettre à la couture, c'était dommage d'avoir du tissu et ne pas l'utiliser. (Les kits sont par ailleurs supers : masking tape, fil de coton, crochet, tissu forment la base de chaque petit paquet proposé tous les 2-3 mois).
I bought a quite simple model to be able to know what all the buttons are for and my first project comes from a Chouette Kit. They actually are the ones that convinced me to start  sewing, stashing fabric without being able to use it was just frustrating. (The kits are by the way fantastic: masking tape, cotton, crochet, fabric are the base of each parcel offered every 2-3 months. The booklet is in French but contains mostly image based tutorials).

Les coutures sont très loin d'être droites et j'en ai un peu honte mais cela laisse la place à une belle amélioration. J'ai réalisé le verso en crochet tout simplement en alternant range de mailles serrées et rang de brides. 
The sewing is so bad, not straight at all and I am a bit ashamed of showing it here but at least I have some room for improvement. I made the back in crochet by alternating single crochet rows and double crochet rows.

Mon prochain projet risque d'être un petit short tout simple en coton. Tutoriel ici sur le blog de Cotton&Curls que j'apprécie tout particulièrement.

Here I am

RECYCLE OLD CLOTHES

Finalement contaminée par le virus de la couture ! Et cela grâce au nouveau réseau social Pinterest. Contrairement au tricot, je n'ai pas envie de suivre nécessairement des modèles, mais de tâtonner, et de me contenter d'apprendre la technique pour le moment. Je me concentre donc sur de petits projets à l'instar de cette modification de pantalon. Je ne portais plus ce baggy depuis belle lurette (les années lycée...) et le voilà transformé en pantalon carotte que je ne quitte plus ♥.

Eventually, I have been bitten by the sewing bug thanks to the Pinterest social network. Unlike knitting, I don't really feel like following patterns but I intend to try, make mistakes and try again, first learning the basics. That's why I focus on small projects for now as this pants tailoring. I haven't been wearing these baggies for years (since high school...) and here they are, turned into carott pants that I keep putting on ♥.

Mon tout premier projet était ce petit bustier ultra simple. J'ai découpé les manches et le col d'une chemise, puis j'ai cousu un tunnel tout le tour pour ensuite passer un élastique de la taille de mon buste + dos.

My very first super easy project was this bustier. I only cut the sleeves and collar out of an old shirt, then I sewed a tunnel and placed an elastic all around.
