**Zebra powa**

EN- I've wanted to knit something with a zebra pattern for a long time and finally made this tee. It's only my second project without any pattern but I think I'm quite happy with it so here are the instructions for anyone interested :) 

ZEBRA POWA

MATERIALS- 

3.5mm needles + 900m white cotton yarn + 1 ball of coloured yarn

STITCHES-

double decrease: 

• on the right: k3, k3tog and knit
• on the left: 6 stitches before the end of the row slip one st, k2tog, psso, k3

decrease:

• on the right: k3, k2tog and knit
• on the left: 5 stitches before the end of the row slip one st, k1, psso, k3

BACK- 

Cast on 106 stitches. 

Knit in ribs 1/1 for 2.5cm (10 rows)

Knit (stockinette stitch) until the piece measures 39cm total (120 rows)

Cast off 3st on each side.

Every 2 rows (on each side): 

• 1x1 st double decrease
• 33x1 st decrease

Meaning on each row you do it left and right. 

Bind off the remaining stitches.

FRONT- 

Cast on 106 stitches. 
Knit in ribs 1/1 for 2.5cm (10 rows)
Knit (stockinette stitch) until the piece measures 39cm total (120 rows)
Cast off 3st on each side.
Every 2 rows (on each side): 

• 1x1 st double decrease
• 25x1 st decrease

at the same time, when the piece measures 41.5cm, cast off the 14 middle stitches. 

And every 2 rows (neck side):

• cast off 1x3 st
• cast off 2x2 st
• cast off 4x1 st

When the piece measures 56.5cm, bind off the 3 remaining stitches.

SLEEVES- Make 2 (invert the right and left side at the end)
Cast on 82 stitches. 
Knit in ribs 1/1 for 1.5cm (5 rows)
Knit (stockinette stitch) until the piece measures 7cm total (21 rows)
Cast off 3st on each side.
Every 2 rows (on each side): 

• 1x1 double decrease
• 28x1  decrease

Right side: every 2 rows:

• cast off 1x4 st
• cast off 2x3 st
• cast off 2x2 st

Left side: keep making the raglan decreases, every 2 rows:

• 4x1 st decrease

Bind off the remaining stitches.

SLEEVE EMBROIDERY-
I wanted to try a different technique than jacquard and decided to embroider the sleeves (it is veeeeery long). It is completely up to you. Here is the pattern: (repeat it horizontally and vertically)

FINISH-
Sew the different pieces together, pick up stitches around the neck with circular needles and work in ribs 1/1 for 1 or 2cm. Weave in ends. DONE

I started this blog a year and a half ago now because I was unemployed and thought it would be a good way to balance my job search and not get depressed, and it worked really well. Now I've found an awesome position and unfortunately I realise that won't be able to post as much, but I am still there even if I'm a bit silent :)

L'une de mes résolutions pour cette année 2012 concerne bien évidemment le tricot. J'y pense depuis un moment, et je n'avais pas encore trouvé le temps, mais je vais définitivement me mettre à l'écriture de patrons !
Je commence doucement aujourd'hui, avec un patron simplissime, créé l'année dernière.
One of my new year's resolutions for 2012 has (of course) something to do with knitting. I've been thinking about it for a while, and I haven't taken the time yet, but I will definitely start writing my own patterns!
I begin today with a very easy one, created last year.

BOW RING

MATERIEL - 1 paire d'aiguilles 2.5 mm et une pelote de laine adaptée.

NOEUD - Monter 34 mailles. Tricoter en point de blé pendant 12 rangs, puis rabattre les mailles.
Coudre les deux extrémités ensemble (bord rabattu et bord de montage).

ANNEAU - Monter 18 mailles. Tricoter en côte 2/2 pendant 4 rangs, puis rabattre les mailles.
Coudre les deux extrémités de sorte à faire un anneau extensible.

ASSEMBLAGE - Enrouler un peu de laine autour du noeud, et serrer, lui donner la forme désirée et fixer avec quelques points. Puis coudre l'anneau. Rentrer les fils.

MATERIAL - 1 set of 2.5mm needles and a skein of yarn.

BOW - Cast on 34 stitches. Knit moss stitch for 12 rows and cast off.  Sew the 2 edges together.

RING - Cast on 18 stitches. Knit 2/2 ribs for 4 rows and cast off. Sew the 2 edges together (so you make a ring).

FINISHING - Wire some wool around the bow and tighten, give it the shape you like, and sew a few stitches. Sew the ring. Weave in ends.
